Qantas reopens international flight bookings from July 1 amidst Covid-19 vaccine rollout optimism

Sydney, Australia:

Qantas has reopened international flight bookings for selected destinations from July 1 onwards as Covid-19 vaccination program rollouts cast optimism within the travel industry. It is now possible to book Qantas flights to the UK, the US, Japan, Singapore and Hong Kong for flight dates scheduled after 1st July, 2021.

The decision however is not based on any Australian government indications to open the borders – the Australian government has continued to maintain borders will only open after it is safe to do so.

Qantas too has maintained the resumption of international flights will be subject to the start of vaccinations and the reopening of nationals borders.

The decision to sell tickets is based on Qantas’ expectation that vaccination programs will prove successful and international travel can begin to restart from July, 2021.

Australia is expected to begin its Covid-19 vaccination from March. Meanwhile, other countries such as the US, the UK, and member EU countries have already started their vaccination programs.
