Brisbane, Australia:

Queensland, on Thursday, observed 100 consecutive days of zero community transmission. Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk thanked the public for their cooperation towards controlling the virus, and warned about complacency.

“We’re going to have a Christmas that’s as near to normal as we possibly can,” Ms Palaszczuk said. She also urged people to continue following prescribed health advisories such as abiding by social distancing requirements, and QR codes capture of data for effective contact tracing.

Meanwhile, Queensland reported 2 new cases of Covid-19 – both imported.

A man who had visited Sydney’s northern beaches earlier this month tested positive in Queensland. Queensland’s another case is a crew member who arrived into Cairns on the Lady E superyacht from Maldives. The state’s health authorities are investigating into both cases.
