Seven Nepalese test positive for COVID-19 in Australia


Seven Nepalese have contracted the novel coronavirus in Australia, as per reports by the Nepalese Embassy in Canberra. Of the seven, four are from Sydney, and three are from Melbourne.

Sydney: 

Four Nepalis, all flatmates living in an apartment in Granville have been confirmed positive for coronavirus. According to the Embassy, tests of all flatmates were conducted after a Nepali woman tested positive for coronavirus in Granville, Sydney. Three of her friends also tested positive, and have been placed in isolation.

Their health is reported to be normal, and recovering.

Melbourne: 

Similarly, three members of a Melbourne family also tested positive for the novel coronavirus. Authorities have initiated contact tracing, and more tests are underway.

A total of eight Nepalis have tested positive for the novel coronavirus in Australia. Earlier, in February, a Nepali man from Hobart had tested positive. He had travelled from Nepal via Singapore and Sydney. He has since been treated and is healthy.
