Students can work up to 40 hours above in Australia


Melbourne, Australia – Nepali students studying in Australia on a student visa will be allowed to work for more than 40 hours in any sector of the economy. In an effort to address labor shortages, restrictions on working hours for student visas have been temporarily lifted until June 30, 2023. From now until June 2023, students studying in Australia, new arrivals as well as secondary applicants will be allowed to work more than 40 hours in any sector of the economy. It is possible to work even before studying.

After the specified time, it is said that the restrictions imposed on student visa holders will remain the same. In this way, the exemption of working more than 40 hours in any field has been given, but the students have been made aware of the visa conditions including the right to work. Absence during studies, activities that reduce academic quality will not be allowed.

Those who are on student visas will have to face action if they violate the conditions of the visa, such as skipping classes, reducing the progress according to the course. The government has also alerted the employers that students are allowed to work for more than 40 hours. Under Australian workplace law, all employees, including foreign workers and international students, are required to be guaranteed equal rights and services.
