Travel exemption for parents of immigrants living in Australia, this is the new standard

Melbourne Australia, The Australian Government has opened travel applications for its citizens and parents of permanent residents in Australia.

Such an arrangement has been made to relocate the parents of the migrants who have been left abroad due to COVID-19. The government said on Friday that its citizens and parents of permanent residents in Australia would be included in the definition of “close family”.

Under Australia’s strict COVID-19 restrictions, only citizens or close family members of residents are allowed to enter the country. Initially, parents were not considered close family members, but since the exemption began on November 1, they have been able to enter Australia easily.

Home Affairs Minister Karen Andrews said the change would allow more families to be reunited by the epidemic. He said: “Over the past 18 months, many families with parents living abroad have not been able to get involved in marriages, funerals, grandchildren, and other important events. I want to thank these families for their patience and sacrifice during this time. ” “With today’s change, Australian citizens and parents of permanent residents can be reunited in Australia: they can once again hold their grandchildren together and reunite for a significant achievement in life.”

Parents applying to enter Australia must provide proof of their adult child’s citizenship or residence as well as their affiliation. Applicants must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and must be subject to quarantine arrangements in the state or territory of arrival.

The policy comes after Melbourne was closed for 77 days. This is the first time since June that any major Australian city has been closed.

So far, 86.1 per cent of Australians aged 16 and over have been vaccinated with a coronavirus, and 71.7 per cent have been fully vaccinated, according to the Health Department.
