Melbourne, Victoria:
Victoria, on Monday, recorded two new cases of Covid-19 – one locally transmitted, and the other a returnee in hotel quarantine. The one new locally transmitted case is a part of the Holiday-Inn cluster, taking the cluster to 17 people.
Meanwhile, the Department of Health also said today’s case – the mother of a three year old child who had tested positive earlier – is under investigation.
On Sunday, Victoria had recorded two new local cases – both were in attendance of a party at a Coburg Venue on 6th February which was attended by a worker linked to the Holiday Inn cluster on the same day. The two new cases were a child and a woman from different households.
Meanwhile, the mother of the child, who had been tested twice yielded a negative and a positive test. Health authorities therefore took a conservative approach and deemed the case as a positive case who is therefore Monday’s locally transmitted case.
Meanwhile Melbourne continues to be under Stage 4 Restrictions until 17th February (Wednesday), 11:59 pm. Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews when asked if the lockdown would be extended said ‘Victoria seems well placed, but it is too early to comment’.
