Victoria recorded 12 new cases of Covid-19 overnight on Saturday, continuing its streak of reporting new cases below 20 for the past 3 days.
The announcement, just one day ahead of ease of restrictions continues to drive optimism within residents of Melbourne.
Earlier, Premier Daniel Andrews had said Victoria would have to post a 14 day daily average of new cases between 30-50 before Melbourne would be allowed to open – as of 26th September, 2020, the 14 days rolling Covid-19 case is at 23.6.
Melbourne, finding itself dealing with a second wave of infections has spent eight weeks under Stage 4 Restrictions, including a night time curfew. The lockdown has helped the metropolitan area drive its numbers down, but has badly affected the economy.
Meanwhile, NSW recorded one new case – a returned traveller in hotel quarantine. In Queensland there were three new confirmed cases, taking the number of active cases to seven.
