Victoria’s five day snap-lockdown to end tonight, mask and gathering restrictions to remain


Melbourne, Australia:

“Victoria’s five day cricuit-breaker snap lockdown will end tonight at 11:59 p.m.”, Premier Daniel Andrews has said. The snap-lockdown is ending as per schedule, however, some restrictions such as cumpulsory masks and limit on gatherings will continue until next Friday.

Victoria recorded zero cases of Covid-19 in the 24 hours leading to Wednesday, 17th February, 2021 from 39,258 tests – one of the highest number of testing done in a single day in Victoria.

From Thursday, 18th February, 2021, Victorians will have more than four reasons to leave their home, however masks are mandatory in all outdoor settings outside their homes, and at all outdoor venues where a physical distance of 1.5 metre is not possible.

Similarly, Victorians will only be allowed five visitors to their homes, instead of the previous 15-person limit. Up to 20 people from any number of households will be allowed at public gatherings.

These restrictions are in place untill February 26.
