Schedule of Nepal International Theatre Festival announced


List and stage schedule of the selected plays from around the world for the 2nd Nepal International Drama Festival (NITFEST) were made public on Thursday.

The 9-day festival will be held from November 25 to December 3.

With the slogan ‘Theatre for Social Transformation: Celebrating Diversity’, a list of 22 plays selected for the festival, and the stage schedule of those plays were made public through the official website of the festival.

According to the schedule, there will be 32 shows of 22 plays in the festival.

In the list published by the organiser Mandala Theater Nepal, the stage schedule of six plays from Nepal and 16 from other countries are included.

Plays from Nepal, India, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Russia, Italy, Spain, Britain, Belarus, Egypt, the United States, Uruguay and Argentina are selected for the festival. According to the schedule, there will be one to five shows of different plays every day at three locations of the Mandala Theatre– Thapagaon, Kathmandu’s main theatre, studio and open premises.

Two Nepali dramas will be staged on the opening day and one Nepali drama will be staged on the closing day.

Festival Director and the president of Mandala Theater Srijana Subba expressed her belief that art lovers would make the Nepal International Drama Festival a festival of their time.

Subba said that the festival will be a totality of art, culture, political-social environment and situation and feelings and emotions of different countries.
