Vin Diesel wants Downey Jr for the next ‘Fast & Furious’ movie

It looks like Vin Diesel wants to further expand his ever-growing (Fast & Furious) family with the addition of Robert Downey Jr. The 55-year-old was asked by Variety who he’d like to cast in the movie alongside an already star-studded cast of Charlize Theron, Helen Mirren, Rita Moreno, and Jason Momoa.

Diesel who has been with the franchise since 2001 commented, “Without telling you too much about what happens in the future, there’s a character who is the antithesis of Dom who is promoting AI and driverless cars and a philosophy that with that goes your freedom,” Diesel added, “There is somebody that believes that’s future, and that’s at direct odds with the Toretto mentality.”

When asked if Diesel has spoken to Downey Jr about the role, he replied with a growl saying, “How dare you ask me this question in front of all these people? I have pride and I have dignity.” In a similar theme, Michelle Rodriguez a fellow cast member shared her thoughts on the casting by suggesting the name of Matt Damon, who will be seen alongside Ben Affleck in AIR.

Rodriguez commented, “Who’s the guy from these amazing ‘Jason Bourne’ movies? Matt Damon!” adding “I fucking want Matt Damon. Matt Damon, would you be in a Fast and Furious movie? C’mon, we got four Oscar winners, man. And you’re an Oscar winner!”

The 10th movie in the series, Fast X is set to premiere this May. It’ll introduce Jason Mamoa as the next baddie alongside Alan Ritchson, who was previously seen in Amazon Prime Video’s Jack Reacher series. The movie also stars a recurring cast of Jason Statham, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, John Cena, Jordana Brewster, Brie Larson, Nathalie Emmanuel, Sung Kang, Scott Eastwood, Michael Rooker, Daniela Melchior, Alan Ritchson and Cardi B.
