Siraha: Observing International Day for Older Persons 2020, Mukti Nepal Siraha has honored an 115 year old senior citizen from their community.
Organising a program on Thursday, Mukti Nepal offered the 115 year old Bauwa Lal Singh with a customary shawl and nutritious food as a token of their respect for the elderly. 70 year old Laxman Das, another respected elderly of the community was also honoured with the same customary method along with Bauwa.
Observing the day, Chief District of Officer of Siraha Pradip Raj Kandel said ‘we should be respectful of our elderly not only on this day, but every day of our lives’.
About International Day for Older Persons:
The International Day of Older Persons is observed on 1st October every year. The holiday is celebrated by raising awareness about issues affecting the elderly, such as senescence and elder abuse. It is also a day to appreciated the contributions that older people make to society.
