16 suspects of Ncell blast held; investigation underway

Police have arrested 16 persons for their alleged involvement in the incidents of bomb blast and arsons targeting towers of telecommunications service provider, Ncell in several parts of the country.
Uttam Raj Subedi, Spokesperson of Nepal Police, shared that investigation has been initiated into 16 persons including six arrested from Kathmandu Valley and 10 from outside districts. “Investigation is underway with a focus on the incident of explosion and the people arrested from different places on charge of their involvement in blast and arsons. It will be ascertained only after the investigation “, the police spokesperson said.
Unidentified group(s) on Friday evening had carried out bomb explosion at Ncell towers in different parts of the country.
In the incident of bomb blast at Ncell tower in Nakhkhu, Lalitpur, Singha Prasad Gurung lost his life while Pratikshya Khadka and Ayusha Manandhar sustained injuries.
Subedi informed that other districts had only witnessed the incidents of arson. The Ncell towers were put on fire in different districts outside Kathmandu Valley, including Kanchanpur, Jajarkot, Achham, east Rukum, Kapilvastu, Rupandehi and Kavre.
However, a bomb detected at Kamalpokhari, Kathmandu was defused.
After meeting with the injured today, Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa assured the government would take up entire responsibility for providing treatment to them and book the guilty of the incidents.
Police said that security alert has been ramped up in sensitive areas of the country following the incidents.
