3,024 New Cases Of COVID-19, 6,636 Recoveries, 99 Deaths In 24 Hours


With 3,024 new cases of COVID-19 confirmed on Sunday, the nation’s novel coronavirus tally has reached 588,124.

In 10,471 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the past 24 hours, a total of 3,024 persons were found infected with SARS-CoV-2, informed Dr. Krishna Prasad Poudel, spokesperson at the Ministry of Health and Population in the regular press briefing.

Likewise, the virus infection was detected in 4,555 people in 3,262 antigen tests performed in the last 24 hours.

Of the new infections, 1,131 were confirmed in the Kathmandu Valley including 146 in Bhaktapur, 254 in Lalitpur and 731 in Kathmandu.

The virus infection rate in the last 24 hours was 28.9 per cent of which, the highest infection rate i.e., 61.2 per cent was recorded in Gandaki Province, followed by 49.1 in Bagmati Province and 29.8 in Province 1.

Over 47 districts across the nation currently have more than 500 active cases of COVID-19.

Currently, there are 89,217 active cases of COVID-19 across the nation of which, 6,514 are admitted to various institutional isolation while the remaining patients are placed in home isolation. Currently, 731 people are placed in quarantine.

Of the active patients, 1,442 are admitted to the ICU and 381 are under treatment with the ventilator facility.

Meanwhile, 6,636 COVID-19 patients receiving treatment in institutional isolation or staying in home isolation recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours. Nepal has now recorded 491,009 cases of recovery and the recovery rate is at 83.5 per cent.

The Ministry of Health and Population on Sunday added 99 fatalities to the nation’s COVID-19 death toll, which has now reached 7,898.
