Dor Bahadur Khapangi of Golanjor Rural Municipality-4, Sindhuli is claimed to be one of the shortest persons alive in the world, has been provided with his citizenship certificate.
While providing citizenship to Dor Bahadur, the District Administration Office (DAO), Sindhuli revealed that 17-year-old Khapangi was 71 centimetres tall and weighed around 13 kgs.
The citizenship certificate was provided by the office on the basis of descent. According to the citizenship, Dor Bahadur was born on November 14, 2004.

The Sindhuli DAO mentioned that the citizenship certificate was provided to him on the basis of the recommendation made by the ward chair and a medical report revealing his age.
Rabindra Gautam, non-gazetted first-class officer at the Citizenship section of the Sindhuli DAO, said, “Dor Bahadur’s brother Nar Bahadur Khapangi had brought him to the office to apply for citizenship five days earlier.”
“As we were doubtful regarding his age, we requested Sindhuli District Hospital to ascertain Dor Bahadur’s age,” said Gautam.

Gautam said that it took three days for the general physician at the hospital to determine Dor Bahadur’s age on the basis of his teeth and bones.
“The hospital confirmed that Dor Bahadur is aged between 15 to 17 years and his height and weight is 71 centimetres and 13 kilograms respectively,” Gautam added.
He said that Dor Bahadur’s name could be listed in the list of the world’s shortest person alive.

Currently, Edward Nino Hernandez of Columbia has been recorded as the world’s shortest person. His height is 70.1 centimetres.
Similarly, Lin Yu Chin of Taiwan is also claimed to be the shortest person in the world. He is 67.5 centimetres tall. If these reports are taken into consideration, Dor Bahadur of Sindhulimadi will be the third shortest person in the world.

“Details as to how Dor Bahadur’s height was measured should be ascertained,” said Guragain, adding that as Dor Bahadur was below 18 years, his height would play an important role in claiming that he could be one of the shortest in the world.
