The District Police Office, Humla, has received more than twice the required applications for the job of the temporary police to work in the upcoming elections.
As unemployment rate is high in the district, more young women and men have applied for the short period of job of temporary police.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Krishna Raj Ojha said that the office received more than twice the required number of applications.
Although 400 temporary police personnel are required for the election, 928 applications have been received by the last day of application submission on Thursday.
In the local elections held on May 13 this year, 524 applications were received for 393 posts of temporary police, he said.
DSP Ojha said that due to unemployment, youths are attracted towards temporary police job. Among the total applicants, 215 are women and 713 are men.
According to the police, 698 generally literate people have applied for the job, 200 people have passed SEE, 29 have passed class 12 and one woman applicant has passed Bachelor’s degree.
