Hami Nepal, a non-profit organisation working to curb COVID-19 spread, has helped the Ministry of Health and Population, Gandaki Province to transport 1,600 Johnson&Johnson jabs to Manang district via a chartered helicopter on Tuesday.
As floods and landslides triggered by incessant rainfall have destructed the roadway to Manang, the government was not able to send anti-COVID vaccines to the district.
Hami Nepal delivered the jabs to several villages of Manang, including Chame, Humde, Khansar, Ghyaru and Pisang.
Issuing a press release, Hami Nepal claimed that after the vaccines are administered, Manang will be the first district in Nepal to have fully vaccinated all eligible residents.
Gandaki Province Minister for Health and Population Madhu Maya Adhikari Gurung helped in coordinating the vaccine delivery amid a crisis invited by natural disasters.
The team had earlier transported 300 anti-COVID vaccines to Manang district.
Nepal government is facing difficulties to transport vaccines to various remote areas of Nepal as roads are blocked due to floods and landslides.
