Art, culture and literature are Nepal’s invaluable heritage: PM


Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that the Nepali language, literature, art, and culture constitute an invaluable heritage of the nation.

Prime Minister Deuba, while speaking at the launch of poetry anthologies written by former Nepali Ambassador to Japan, lawmaker, and social activist Prativa Rana, praised the works of women litterateurs and lauded their growing participation in the creation of literary works.

The Prime Minister has also urged creative personalities to spread Nepali literature at the international level and promote Nepal’s glory across the world through art and literature.

At an event held in the capital on Saturday, Prime Minister Deuba unveiled two poetry collections by Rana.

Rana has been writing poetry since her young years but these are her first published literary works.

The collections of poems reflect the life journey and experiences of Rana.

Critic and Professor Gyanu Pandey said that poetess Rana, who was born in 2003 BS, had covered her life journey in her collection of poems, adding that these poetry collections will also help her understand Nepali society better.

Critic Ram Lohani said that Rana’s life journey, her feelings in her post-death state, and the poet’s metaphysical feelings have been expressed in the books.

Lohani further said the poet’s love and relationship with God is portrayed in her poetry.

The poetess has tried to explore the eastern culture and her spiritual and transcendental feelings in the collection of poems, he added.

Poetess Rana said that from her school days till last year, she used to write a diary every day and noted her love for nature, social anomalies, and her lifelong experiences have been expressed through her poetry.

Poetess Rana is the mother-in-law of Prime Minister Deuba and the mother of Arzu Rana Deuba.
