An Australian national and his local tour guide were severely injured in a Rhino attack in Nepal’s Chitwan National Park on Monday, police said.
According to Police officer Devendra Chand, the injured Australian tourist has been identified as 18-year-old William Peter. His local guide Jitu Mahato, 50, was also injured in the incident.
The incident took place some 160 km south of the country’s capital Kathmandu when the duo was visiting the Chitwan National Park, a pioneering hub for elephant adventures, especially for jungle safari.
Local authorities immediately rescued the duo and airlifted them to the capital city for further treatment. “The Australian national’s condition is very critical,” the police officer added.
Chitwan district is Nepal’s popular tourist destination located in the southern part of the country. Xinhua
