As the preparation for the inauguration of Pokhara Regional International Airport in January is ongoing, the calibration flight has begun today to test the capability of the connecting devices.
The calibration flights will take place until November 27 in order to test alignment, lights, and equipment. After that, test flights will be carried out once everything is reported to be functional.
Aero Thai, that had conducted a calibration flight earlier at Gautam Buddha International Airport, reached Pokhara on Saturday after Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) approved the schedule for mechanical test flight from November 21 to November 27.
The aircraft that arrived for the calibration flight will test all the equipment connected to the Pokhara Regional International Airport.
The communication equipment, particularly, the Instrument Landing System (ILS), will be tested during the calibration flight which is a useful technology during take-offs and landings.
Domestic flights operating to and from Pokhara’s old airport will also be affected due to the calibration flights at Pokhara International Airport.
