Kathmandu: An inmate of Central Jail in Sundhara has died of COVID-19.
Drona Pokharel, Director General of Department of Prison Management, confirmed that a 40-year old male serving his term at the central jail died last night.
The prisoner, sentenced for murdering family member passed away while undergoing treatment at Lalitpur-based Mega Hospital.
Swab of the prisoner who died was collected on August 26 for PCR test and in the report received on August 30, he was found infected with SARS-CoV-2 that causes COVID-19.
