Suspended Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher JB Rana, on Thursday, appeared before the Impeachment Recommendation Committee (IRC) of the House of Representatives to claim that he has not committed anything unlawful.
CJ Rana, on second day of questioning by IRC, alleged that the Nepal Bar Association and fellow justices portrayed him in a negative light regarding his performance and integrity.
He also alleged that he has been suspended for 6 and a half months on the basis that are meaningless, unreasonable, and cannot be confirmed by reasonings.
Stating that there are still many questions remaining to ask to CJ Rana, chairman of the IRC, Ram Bahadur Gurung, said that the testimony will continue again on Sunday. August 19. He informed that since the House of Representatives was meeting on Friday, he was called for a statement on Sunday the 19th.
On February 13, 98 lawmakers of the ruling party moved an impeachment motion against the then Chief Justice Rana after allegations were made against him and his efficiency and integrity.
