Climbers who reached the third and fourth camps aspiring to scale Mt. Everest and Lhotse have return to the second camp owing to the bad weather.
Gyanendra Shrestha, contact officer, informed that over two dozen climbers who had climbed up higher camps for scaling the peaks have now returned to the second camp and been taking rest as the weather was likely to worsen for three days.
Earlier in this season, scaling of the highest peak has taken place for two times.
Climber Temba Sherpa said that prolonged stay in the base camp and decreasing amount of food and other items was resulting in the loss of physically strength of the climbers. He said summiting of the peak will be completed once the weather improves within May 29.
“We are now at the second camp as there was snowing and windy weather,” he said.
Over 60 climbers who took permission to reach the highest peak are awaiting to climb Mt. Everest/Sagarmatha. A record 408 people had taken permission to scale the highest peak this year. Over 30 aspirant climbers had returned owing to symptoms similar to that of COVID-19 from the base camp, according to Nepal Tourism Board.
