With an investment of more than Rs. 1 billion, the construction of the modern multi-purpose stadium has started in Banke.
Narainapur Rural Municipality said it had started the construction of the stadium at its Ward No. 4. Municipality has started the preliminary work of the stadium, which covers an area of 1.254 hectares.
Head of the municipality Ishtiaq Ahmed Shah said that levelling the surface and building the wall had been started in the first phase.
Shah informed that the Ministry for Youth and Sports had provided a budget of Rs. 50 million for the first phase of the construction of the international standard stadium.
“We will be constructing the stadium as per the budget available by the federal and provincial governments.
The stadium is build under a multi-year project,” said Shah.
As per the Detailed Project Report (DPR), Rs. 1.80 billion is estimated to construct the stadium with a cricket stadium, swimming pool, tennis court, basketball court and volleyball court. Parapets for the VVIP, VIP and public would also be built inside the stadium.
“It is targeted to complete the construction of road and field by one year. Road connectivity to stadium from the postal highway is 1.5 KM. Completion of the road is the priority,” said Shah.
The stadium is located near the community forest.
After the nod from the forest consumer committee, the cabinet of the provincial government also agreed to use the land for the stadium construction.
“The municipality informed the central and provincial government will add the budget annually. Local government will provide the remaining budget to complete the stadium”, said Shah.
