Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, Speaker for the Ministry of Health and Population appeared on Facebook Live for the day’s media briefing. Here are a few updates:

Total no. of PCR tests done in Nepal: 308,491

No. of PCR tests in last 24 hours: 4,688

Tests outside Kathmandu: Dharan, Pokhara, Hetauda, Janakpur, Surkhet, Dhangadi, Dhulikhel, Bharatpur, Nepalgunj, Bhairawaha (PCR Tests)

No. of cases: 17,445

Active cases: 5,871

Recovery: 11,534

Death: 40 (The deceased was permanent resident of Rajbiraj-1, Saptari. The 73-year-old male succumbed to coronavirus at 10:15pm on June 16. He was diabetic and had heart-related complications. He was taken to emergency ward of B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Science, Dharan on June 15 evening aftering having high fever and respiratory problems. His swab sample was sent to laboratory which came positive.)
