Movements of the devotees have increased at Pashupatinath temple with the beginning of the holy of Shravan month.
On Sunday, the first day of Shravan month, which is marked as Saune Sankranti, many devotees reached Pashupatinath and other Shiva shrines to offer worship to Lord Shiva.
Bolbom pilgrims also visit Pashupatinath temple to offer water to Lord Shiva in Shravan, according to the Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT). The month of Shravan is the holy month for the followers of the Hindu. The Hindu women fast on Mondays of this month and visit Pashupati and other Shiva temples.
Pashupatinath temple had remained shut for the devotees in Shravan month for the last two years due to COVID-19. The devotes who were enthusiastically waiting to visit Pashupatinath in Shrawan month have started thronging the temple from the day of Shravan Shulka Pratiprada on July 15, said Rewati Raman Adhikari, spokesperson for the PADT
He said that the PADT has managed the devotees’ line so that they can easily pay homage to the Lord Shiva.
The devotees visit Shiva temples especially Pashupatinath Temple throughout the month of Shrawan to Teej festival.
The PADT has formed a11-member Saune Festival Management Committee under the coordination of Purna Bahadur Jethara, a PADT member. The implementation committee has also been formed under the coordination of Dr. Ghanshyam Khatiwada, Executive Director of the PADT.
It has added some footwear stalls targeting the crowd of devotees and managed four separate lines to enter the Pashupatinath temple easily. The volunteers and police personnel will be deployed to provide security to the devotees and around 100 sanitation workers for sanitation, said Adhikari.
This year, five Mondays fall in the month of Shravan month, which is regarded as a pious period.
So this year, more devotees are expected to visit the temple, he said.
