Daunne bus accident: four dead, 49 injured


At least four people died when a passenger-ferrying bus met with an accident in Nawalparasi (Bardaghat-Susta West) this morning. The accident took place nearby Khursani Khola in Bardaghat-4 along the East-West Highway at around 6.00 am today. According to the District Traffic Police Office, the bus fell down some 200 meters off the road. The Rukum-West bound bus (Na 5 Kha 2713) from Kathmandu Machhapokhari met with the accident, informed Traffic Police Office chief Police Inspector Basudev Nepal. Among the deceased identified are Kalpana Pun, 27, of Triveni rural municipality-6 and Dhanaraj Gharty of Sisne rural municipality of Rukum-West. The bus was carrying a total of 58 passengers and 49 of them were injured in the incident. The injured were rescued from the spot and were taken to local Chisapani Hospital and Sanjeevanii Hospital, shared spokesperson of District Police Office DSP Raju Lama. Other five passengers are in good condition, police said.
