Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Rabi Lamichhane Monday instructed CDOs to make service delivery more effective so that there are no complaints from citizens.
Addressing the virtual meeting of the Chief District Officers and the district security chiefs from the Ministry, Singha Durbar, DPM Lamichhane instructed officials to provide services so that there are no complaints from the public and to protect citizens from misfortunes such as cold waves.
Ghanshyam Upadhyaya, chief district officer of Kathmandu, following the meeting, said that necessary directives had been issued by the Minister regarding good governance, service delivery, corruption control, theft control and disaster management.
According to Upadhyaya, the Home Minister also directed the Chief District Officers to be prepared to reduce the risk of cold waves in Terai and snowfall in high Himalayan districts.
Home Minister Lamichhane said that the ministry would take initiatives with necessary coordination and management in preparation for disaster management to prevent any citizen from losing their lives due to the cold.
Chief District Officer of Lalitpur Jaya Narayan Acharya said that instructions have been received to streamline the service delivery of the home administration, to protect the lives of citizens from cold waves and other natural calamities as the winter season has already arrived.
He said that Home Minister Lamichhane also told to maintain peace, security and order and not to compromise on crime control.
The Home Minister has also requested to always give high priority to the complaints and problems of the citizens, provide services, expand easy access to services, and adopt technology-friendly service and polite behaviour.
Since he and his party are committed to zero tolerance against corruption keeping good governance in mind, Minister Lamichhane also instructed his subordinate officers not to be under the pressure and influence of any person or mechanism.
The Minister has also urged to promptly listen to the complaints that the citizens have to face delays, hassles and rude behaviour while availing the services they get from the state. In addition to this, Minister Lamichhan said that his attention had been drawn to the fact that citizens who had been victims of loan sharks across the country were complaining that they had not received justice yet.
CDO Acharya said that the Minister had also instructed to streamline regular services such as citizenship, national identity card and other services provided by the district administration office, including peace and security provided by the police.
