Dr Govinda KC has launched his 17th fast-unto-death strike in Dadeldhura district after the government failed to address his seven-point demands in the stipulated time.

Medical reformer and activist Dr KC started his hunger strike on Monday in Tufandada, the district headquarter of Dadeldhura. He is staying at the house of a local resident.

Doctors from the District Hospital tested his blood and urine before Dr KC sat for his strike. Dr KC, organizing a press meet in Charikot of Dolakha on October 15, had given an ultimatum to the government to address his demands by October 25. He decided to stage the 17th hunger strike after the government failed to implement the past agreements reached with the agitating doctor.

He has put forth a list a seven-point demands to be met by the government.

Dr Govinda KC had ended his 16th hunger strike after signing a 22-point agreement with the government – his 16th strike had begun from January 9 and lasted for 24 days.
