Eight Indian tourists found unconscious at Daman’s resort dead

Eight Indian tourists staying in Everest Panorama Resort, Makwanpur, earlier found unconscious in their room have died. A group of 15 people came from Kerala, India to visit Nepal. Eight of them who slept in the same room were found unconscious. After being found unconscious, they were brought to Kathmandu via helicopter.

The staff had informed the Police Office in Palung on Tuesday morning when they found the unconscious group of Indian tourists at the hotel.

Bikash Tamang, police inspector of Palung Police Office said, “We sent the casualties directly to HAMS Hospital, Kathmandu via helicopter. The hospital later informed that all of them died while undergoing treatment in the emergency room.”

DSP Umesh Lamsal of Metropolitan Police Circle, Maharajgunj, also stated that all foreign tourists found unconscious in hotel had died. “The bodies of tourists were taken to the T.U. Teaching Hospital for the post-mortem,” he said.

The deceased have been identified as 34-year-old Ranjit Kapa, 34-year-old Indra, 37-year-old Pravin, 32-year-old Mr.Sariya, 5-year-old Abhi, 7-year-old Archana, 5-year-old Baishnav and 9-year-old Badra.

Preliminary investigations have suggested that they may have died of suffocation as they fell asleep by closing the windows and the door of the room and were using a heater. However, police say the cause of death can be assured only after a post-mortem report.
