Nepali Congress General Secretary Bishwo Prakash Sharma has said the coming November 20 election would help elect the prime minister that would rule the country for continued five years.
General Secretary Sharma said it while unveiling the statue of the first martyr in Jhapa, Bishwonath Ghimire, at Bahundangi of Mechinagar on Friday. Country needs the prime minister that would bring transformation in the lives of Nepali people and the country because the country has already got democracy, republic and federalism.
He further said the country had witnessed adequate struggles and sacrifices for political change.”Now, time is for the change in the status of people and work style of political parties,” Sharma underscored.
Nepali Congress leader Ghimire was shot dead by the police on Jeshtha 31, 2019BS while he was going to Chandragadhi from Bahundangi. After sixty years of his murder, the Nepali Congress announced him as the first martyr of Jhapa district.
Coordinator of financial committee, Mohan Niraula, shared information that the statue was set up at the cost of Rs 1.4 million.
Also speaking on the occasion were Ram Kattel, Keshav Kumar Budhathoki, Goma Bhattarai, Sarita Prasai, Uddhav Thapa and Deuman Thebe.
The grandson of the martyr Ghimire, Niraj Ghimire, had donated three dhurs of land to set up the statue. (RSS)
