Election results from less-populated rural municipalities start arriving


The results of Local Election 2022 held on Friday have started arriving from rural municipalities with fewer populations on Saturday.

According to the result made public by Election Commission, Nepal, Konjo Tenzing Lama has been elected as the chairman of Narpa Bhumi Rural Municipality of Manang district.

Konjo, who represented Nepali Congress (NC), received 158 votes and won against Krishna Bahadur Lama, an independent candidate who received 111 votes.

Mengmar Phuncho Lama of CPN-UML has been elected as the vice-chairman of Narpa Bhumi unopposed.

In Chame Rural Municipality of Manang, CPN-UML candidate Lokendra Bahadur Ghale has been elected the chairman with 320 votes by winning against NC’s Tshiring Dhwarje Lama (279 votes).

Meanwhile, NC’s Mingmar Dhoma Lama won the post of vice-chairperson of Chame Rural Municipality, which has five wards. She received 325 votes while her counterpart Asha Kumari Gurung of CPN-UML received 274 votes.

EC’s result also shows that Kanchha Ghale of CPN-UML has been elected as the chairman of Manang Disyang Rural Municipality with 861 votes. Ghale’s counterpart Tshiring Ongma Gurung of NC received 713 votes.

However, Tshiring Gurung, an independent candidate, won the vice-chairperson post of Manang Disyang with 744 votes.

In Nason Rural Municipality of Manang, Dhan Bahadur Gurung of NC has been elected as the chairman.

Similarly, Ringjin Namgel Gurung of CPN-UML has won the post of Baragung Muktichhetra Rural Municipality of Mustang district. Ringjin received 867 votes and won while his counterpart Aangjen Gurung received 577 votes.

CPN-UML also clinched the post of vice-chairperson in Baragunj Muktichhetra, which has five wards, as the party’s candidate Dhiki Gurung received 749 votes against NC’s Dheche Aangmo Gurung (647 votes).

Likewise, NC’s Mohan Singh Lalchan has been elected as the chairman of Gharapjhong Rural Municipality of Mustang. He received 760 votes and won against CPN-UML’s Sanjay Kumar Thakali, who received 758 votes.

Gharapjhong’s vice-chairperson has also been clinched by NC as the party’s candidate Jamuna Thapa Magar won after receiving 693 votes. Her competitors were CPN-UML’s Mim Kumari Serchan (618 votes) and Rastriya Prajatantra Party’s (RPP) Kamala Lalchan (184 votes).

CPN-UML’s candidate Dhawa Samduk Gurung has also been elected unopposed as the chairman of Shey Phoksundo Rural Municipality of Dolpa district.

In Dolpa, CPN (Unified-Socialist) candidates Angad Kumar Rana and Sonang Gurung have already been elected unopposed as chairman of Kaike Rural Municipality and Chharka Tangsong Rural Municipality respectively.

CPN (Maoist Centre)’s Narsing Rokaya clinched the chairman post of Jagdulla Rural Municipality of Dolpa district with 770 votes.

His opposition Hem Bahadur Mahatara of CPN-UML lost after receiving 746 votes.
