Entrance Examination for MBBS under TU and KU likely to be put off

The entrance examinations for new students under the faculty of health sciences of Tribhuvan University and Kathmandu University have been left with uncertainty as Medical Education Struggle Committee has padlocked the faculty offices.

The entrance examinations were earlier scheduled to be held on September 7 and 9. However, it has become uncertain following the lockout at the faculty offices.

The Struggle Committee formed in the participation of free students has pressured the government to implement Medical Education Bill which was passed sometimes ago.

According to the bill, there should be 75% scholarship for students in medical colleges. The Committee has padlocked the faculty offices since September 1.

Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Giriraj Mani Pokharel has held talks with TU and KU officials regarding the demand. Earlier he had directed the faculty officials to take initiative to remove the padlock, but they did not yeild any positive results.

Nevertheless, the government has directed to fulfill the justified demands of the Committee.
