Ex-British Gurkha’s Folklore, Narratives Available In Book Form

Nepal Academy has published historic folklores dating back to over a century.

Folk songs, folk tales, monologues, personal accounts, annals and narratives shared by Gurkha armies who were hired by the British regiment during the First World War (1914-18) and taken into hostage during their deputation in Germany have been compiled and published in a form of a book.

The collection has been entitled ”Yuddabandhi Gorkhalika Lokbhaka ra Katha”.

German Prof Heinrich Luders had visited the hostages to their residents and achieved their accounts. They were achieved by the Academy from the phonograph archives from the Humboldt University, Germany.

With the help of Dr Alka Aatreya Nepal Academy inscribed them on the book has been divided into three chapters.

It comprises 86 folk materials, according to academician Dr Devi Nepal.

The 220-page book is available in the mega book fair taking place at Nepal Academy, according to NA’s information and communication section chief academician Shashi Lumumbu.
