Families and State’s role important for development of children: PM Deuba


Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that families and the State had important role in development and protection of children.

In a congratulatory message to all the children on the occasion of National Children’s Day-2079 BS today, Prime Minister Deuba wished them a bright and prosperous future.

Furthermore, Deuba viewed that each household, families, communities, healthcare services and school should be child-friendly so as to build child-friendly nation by protecting the rights of the children.

The National Children Day-2079 BS is being celebrated today with a slogan ‘ Basis for Children-Friendly Society: Responsible Family, Responsible Government.’

Noting that the Constitution of Nepal has guaranteed children’s rights as the fundamental rights, the Prime Minister assured that the State had guaranteed rights that would ensure health, upbringing, due care, sports, recreation and development of overall personality for children.

Dubbing children as the anchor of the nation and architect and policy maker as well as the catalyst for change, the Head of the Government shared that the government was effortful to ensure that the children could freely exercise any rights guaranteed by the constitution and laws.

He underscored collective efforts to mould children into responsible, patriotic and productive citizens by giving them good education and endowing them with life skills.

Deuba also pointed out the need for cooperation, coordination and collaboration among the federal, provincial and local level governments to work responsibly to protect and promote children rights with the the country adopting a federal republican governance system.

He viewed that families, society and all stakeholders should be responsible to ensure bright future for children and build child-friendly nation.

According to him, honouring, protecting and promoting children rights and securing the welfare of children was everyone’s responsibility and thus called for collective efforts to ensure rights for every child.

On the occasion, the Prime Minister also wished that may the day inspire stakeholder agencies working in the children sector to work more responsibly for the children’s cause.(RSS)
