Five motorcycle lifters held from capital, Ramechhap


The District Police Range, Kathmandu (DPRK), has arrested five individuals with five stolen motorcycles from different parts of Kathmandu and the Ramechhap districts.

The individuals were arrested under ‘Operation Bike Hunt’ initiated by the Kathmandu Police.

Police were deployed across the valley to identify the stolen motorcycles and arrest the thieves. Under the operation, a team from the Police Circle, Maharajgunj, had arrested two individuals on August 1 with a stolen motorcycle during a security check.

Upon initiating a further investigation, the duo was found to be associated with other individuals and worked as a group. Following the information, one more person was held from Kathmandu.

The arrested trio has been identified as Bishal Tamang, 22; Rajan Tamang, 19, and Dinesh Tamang, 19. The trio hailed from Nuwakot district.

A total of four motorcycles were recovered from the trio. A Suzuki Gixxer with engine number 34JI5SAFLI4D1 and chassis number MB8NG4BACG8226823; a Yamaha FZS with engine no. G3J3E0303397 and chassis no. ME1RG4426J0171135; a Pulsar with engine no. DHYRLF58437 and chassis no.

MD2AHCYOPF54480; and a CF Moto with engine no. CFMOTO6KMA-O21000 and chassis no. LCEPDNL55K6002737 were recovered from them.

According to police, the arrest of the trio led them to the Ramechhap district. “Two individuals were found to be directly involved in the group including the trio,” read a statement by DPRK.

The duo hailed from the Ramechhap district has been identified as 40-year-old Ram Sharan Damai and 25-year-old Ghanashyam Karki. They have been brought to Kathmandu.

They were held with a Pulsar motorcycle (State 02-022 Pa 3520) which was also a stolen one.

According to police, they are searching for the motorcycle owners and have initiated the necessary legal process and investigation into the five arrested individuals.
