Minister for Home Affairs Bal Krishna Khand said that a five-party coalition government would be formed after the election results were out.
In a meeting of the five-party alliance held in Bhairahawa of Rupandehi on Sunday morning, Home Minister Khand said that the alliance will get a majority and the parties
involved in the alliance have agreed to form a coalition government to improve the conditions of the citizens by strengthening the system for
five years.
Khand also said that the present alliance will continue for five years.
Home Minister Khand said that the top leaders of the five parties will decide who will be the prime minister soon after the end of vote counting process of the elections.
Khand, who was a candidate for the member of the House of Representatives from Rupandehi 3, said that he took the results of the election easily. Khand was defeated by Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) leader Deepak Bohora.
“It is difficult to take defeat in elections lightly. However, I grew up in Krishna Prasad Bhattarai’s schooling. Therefore, I gladly accept the judgment of the people,” said Home Minister Khand.
Even when he was the Prime Minister, Bhattarai was defeated in the election and accepted the result, he said.
“Being the Home Minister myself, I had to accept the result easily and it would be the responsibility of the Home Minister to accept the people’s mandate,” he said.
As the Home Minister, Khand said that he was happy that he was able to fulfil the main role of conducting the House of Representatives/Provincial Assembly elections in a free , fair and peaceful manner.
Home Minister Khand also said an alliance should be formed and run for five years to moderate??? the system that came after the long struggle of the people. He said that even if he was defeated in the election, he would continue to try his best to maintain the alliance.
He claimed that it is not possible to manage the country’s politics and advance the pace of development in the country without alliances. Minister Khand said that even those who have not accepted the republic and federalism have been able to participate in the elections.
He said that after accepting the constitution that includes republicanism and federalism and the election held according to the laws made in accordance with that constitution, that party is also deemed to have accepted republicanism and federalism.
Home Minister Khand said that some leaders of his own party are against the alliance and said he would not allow that effort to succeed. He said that whether he is in the government or not, he will be in favour of the alliance and will continue working to make it successful.
Other leaders who spoke at the meeting said that despite the good public perception of the parties in the alliance, they had to face defeat due to internal reasons.
In the meeting, Home Minister Khand honoured Santosh Kumar Pandey, the leader of the Democratic Samajwadi Party, who was elected to the Provincial Assembly (A) as a candidate on behalf of the alliance.
