FNCCI, NTB to join hands for tourism promotion


A memorandum of understanding has been signed between the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) and the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) with the objective of cooperating for the promotion of tourism in the country.

The two organisations will cooperate for the promotion and development of the tourism industry, according to a press statement of the FNCCI.

FNCCI President Shekhar Golchha and Chief Executive Officer of NTB Dr. Dhananjay Regmi signed the MoU from their respective institutions at the FNCCI secretariat on Thursday.

The Tourism Development Committee of the Federation had played a special role to cooperate between two organisations for the promotion of the tourism industry.

As per the mutual understanding, meetings of stakeholders in tourism development at various levels will be organised to develop emerging tourism trends and their exchange, cooperation in beautification of various international and domestic airports of Nepal and improvement of services.

Similarly, there will be cooperation in digital marketing of Nepali tourism, international marketing, capacity building of tourism related stakeholders, potential tourism products (hill station, park and other tourism activities), read the press statement.

Addressing the MoU signing programme, FNCCI President Golchha expressed confidence that the agreement would be a milestone in giving a new direction to the country’s tourism industry.

He also expressed his commitment for effective implementation of the MoU.

President Golchha has proposed to organise a mega programme soon with the participation of all tourism-related organisations for the revival of the COVID affected tourism industry.

He stressed on the need to focus on development of tourism infrastructure.

Golchha stressed on the need to take initiative towards making Bhairahawa Airport the cheapest and most accessible airport in the region.

At the programme, Dr. Regmi expressed happiness over the cooperation with the private sector umbrella organisation for the promotion and development of the tourism sector.

He urged the FNCCI to move ahead with the proposal to organise programmes related to tourism as soon as possible.
