Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that historically significant Saptari district will no longer be a backward district.
Prime Minister Oli made this remark while virtually laying the foundation stone of Ram Raja Prasad Singh Institute of Health Sciences from Baluwatar on Tuesday.
He said that the institute would be the largest development project in Saptari.
The Prime Minister was of the view that with the establishment of the institution, the opportunity for quality medical education, as well as for other economic activities would be intensified in the district.
Stating that the idea of the postal highway was raised when he was the Prime Minister for the first time, he said the East-West Railway and Sunkoshi Marine Diversion, set to come into operation soon, would add dimension to the prosperity of the district.
Referring to the political equation of Province 2, the Prime Minister said that the common problems of the people should be solved by tolerating each other even if they have different political ideologies.
He also mentioned that the Sunkoshi Marine Diversion would facilitate irrigation in the western region of the district.
Stating that diversity is an asset of the country, Prime Minister Oli urged the people of Saptari not to harbor ill feelings for the people of different communities.
“It is the main duty of all citizens to get united for the country’s development. Now we should create employment opportunities within the country and stop sending our children abroad in search of employment,” he said.
People from 10 districts of the Terai region, including Saptari and bordering districts of India, are also expected to get health services from the institution.
Prime Minister Oli also urged everyone to strive together to eradicate poverty in the nation.
“Along with the creation of many employment opportunities, the economic activities of the area will also get a boost once the construction of the institute is completed. This will also aid in the development of technology,” said the Prime Minister, adding, “The government is working to give shape to railway service, irrigation, development of Rupani road and Chinnamasta Tourism area and operation of industrial areas.”
Meanwhile, Shambhu Prasad Yadav, mayor of Rajbiraj Municipality, thanked the Prime Minister for laying the foundation stone of the institute. He also said that the municipality was committed to providing help to complete the project within the given deadline.
It has been informed that 413,388 people of 10 districts would be benefitted from the institution, which is being constructed on a budget of Rs. 1.1 billion.
