On Tuesday, Nepal’s government asked its people to pay their taxes by 7th June, 2020 – a move which was severely criticised, and has since been deferred to a further date. To give one perspective, Nepal has been in a lockdown since 24th March, 2020 – economic activities have come to a grinding halt, and people’s daily lives are disrupted.  While the people of Nepal, sans concrete relief measures by the government, were faced with extreme uncertainty (economic, social, and health) – the announcement added trauma.

To show the insensitivity of the move, a group of people from Parsa, under the leadership of Rahbar Ansari made a symbolic gesture – they stripped down to their undergarments, telling the government they had nothing to offer but the clothes they are wearing.
