Govt Preparing 100-Day Action Plan For Possible Third Wave Of COVID


The government on Sunday [floated an idea of introducing a 100-day plan to prevent and control coronavirus and the possible surge of the third wave.
A meeting held at the Ministry of Home Affairs in presence of Minister for Home Affairs Bal Krishna Khand, Minister of State for Health and Population Umesh Shrestha, along with the government officials, discussed the planning.
The meeting was also attended by Home Secretary Maheshwar Neupane, Inspector General of Nepal Police Shailesh Thapa Chhetri, Inspector General of Armed Police Shailendra Khanal and Chief of the National Investigation Department Ganesh Prasad Adhikari.
According to Joint Secretary and spokesperson for the Home Ministry Phadindra Mani Pokhrel, Home Minister Khand said in the meeting that controlling and preventing the virus was proving challenging across the country so the government requires cooperation and coordination from all concerned bodies.
Minister Khand said that the main responsibility of the state was to control the coronavirus and stressed that all the mechanisms of the state should be active. He also pointed out the need for the Ministry of Health to coordinate with the Ministry of Home Affairs to control coronavirus, adding that the Home Ministry would facilitate the necessary arrangements for the Health Ministry.
Home Minister Khand said that preparations should be made before the third wave begins. He said that proper and organised holding centres should be built in the border points and managing vaccination right at the holding centres.
Minister Khand also requested to organise the vaccination centres as they are crowded at present.
Also, Minister of State for Health Shrestha expected the support of the Home Administration. He said that the government is preparing to arrange additional oxygen plant in the hospital. Minister of State Shrestha briefed that the government is going to purchase 4 million doses of Pfizer jabs and is importing 3.2 million doses of vaccines, 1.6 million each from China and Japan.
He also said that vaccination centres should be made more systematic. He said that coordination should also be made with private medical colleges and hospitals.
