The government is preparing to make public its common minimum programme and procedure prepared by the ruling alliance taskforce for operation of the government on Sunday.
A meeting of the top leaders of the ruling alliance held at Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba’s official residence on Saturday decided to do so. The taskforce had handed over the draft of programme and procedure to the top leaders on Friday.
After the meeting, Rastriya Janamorcha leader Durga Paudel informed that the document would be made public on Sunday.
In the meeting Nepali Congress president and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, CPN-Maoist Centre chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, Janata Samajwadi Party chair Upendra Yadav and Rastriya Janamorcha chair Chitra Bahadur KC and Paudel were present.
The taskforce has proposed a High Level Joint Political Committee at the federal, provincial and local levels to support the operation of the government. It has also prepared a code of conduct for the ministers inducted in the Cabinet.
The report mentions the issues of tackling the COVID-19 pandemic, promotion of national interest, implementation of federalism, strengthening of the federal democratic system, managing relief package for the disaster affected people, good governance, completion of the peace process, economic policy and programme and balanced foreign policy, among others, as the priorities of the government.
It has also suggested some measures to make the alliance stronger and long-lasting along with the code of conduct for the ministers. A 10-point work procedure has also been suggested for the operation of the government.
Nepali Congress leaders Dr. Minendra Rijal and Ramesh Lekhak, Maoist Centre leaders Dev Gurung and Barshaman Pun, JSP-N leaders Rajendra Shrestha and Mahendra Ray Yadav are the members of the taskforce led by NC general secretary Purna Bahadur Khadka.
