Nepal: Health Experts have urged Nepali public to practice safety measures as cases of Covid-19 continue to rise in Nepal. Health authorities are baffled as cases continue to rise despite prohibitory orders in place in more than half of Nepal’s 77 districts.
Dr. Rabindra Pandey, a public health expert has urged government to ease the ongoing restrictions, and to make Public Service Announcements (PSAs) towards helping contain the spread of Covid-19.
The four prescribed measures which the public to be reminded of are:
- Wear a mask,
- Wash your hands regularly with soap and water; sanitize where hand washing isn’t possible.
- Maintain physical distance of at least 1.5 metres, and to avoid crowds and other large public gatherings.
- Seek medical help or referral when showing symptoms, and to isolate within recovery period.
“We, the citizens should also follow all health safety precautions, mandatorily wear masks properly while heading out of home, maintain proper social and physical distance, keep our hands clean and avoid crowds. If we do this, it will help control the pandemic,” said Dr. Pandey.
“If we strictly abide by and follow the public health standards, it will help make our life simpler and a bit easier like in other countries, but instead if we do not follow them, the rate of infection will increase at a fast pace, making our life more difficult,” warned Dr. Pandey.
