Health Materials Of Spanish Support Arriving Today


Spain is sending a consignment by a chartered flight on Thursday that will include ventilators, oxygen concentrators and PPEs, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) in a statement on Wednesday.
Magdy Martinez Soliman, Director of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), is visiting Nepal to hand over the items to the government here.
Meanwhile, Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gyawali held a telephone conversation with Minister for External Affairs of the European Union and Cooperation of Spain, Arancha Gonzalez Laya on Wednesday. The Foreign Minister thanked Spain for its support of medical equipment and supplies that would be valuable in the battle against the surging new variants of COVID-19,
the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) said in its statement.
Minister Laya thanked Nepal for facilitating the repatriation of stranded Spanish nationals and assured of continued cooperation from Spain at the bilateral level as well as through the EU and other channels.
Likewise, FM Gyawali had a virtual meeting with Minister of State at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office of the United Kingdom, Lord Ahmed, on Wednesday.
Various matters relating to Nepal-UK bilateral relations and development cooperation, particularly in the context of the Covid-19, were discussed during the meeting with Ahmed, MoFA informed.
MoFA said the ministers conveyed to each other their solidarity in fighting against the pandemic.
Minister Gyawali thanked the Government of the UK for its support to Nepal in the normal times as well as during this period of difficulty.
The British support, including for the inoculation against Covid-19, would be more valuable at a time when the country is confronting unprecedented surge of cases, he stressed.
According to MoFA, Minister Ahmed assured Nepal of continued support from the British Government, including in the health sector. The two Ministers agreed to work closely to further deepen and widen all spheres of the friendly bilateral relations and remain engaged in the issues of common interests, including climate change.
