HoR Is Not Dissolved In True Sense: Chairman Prachanda

Nepal Communist Party (Prachanda-Nepal Group) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ said the dissolution of the House of Representatives (HoR) was against the letter and spirit of the Constitution.

In his address to a public gathering hosted by NCP at Bhrikutimandap today against the dissolution of the HoR, former Prime Minister Prachanda claimed that the House was not dissolved in true sense as the arrangement beyond the Constitution was used to do so.

“Constitutionally the HoR could be dissolved if the statutory alternatives are explored within the House and are not found”, he added.

Noting that the House could not be dissolved until there are four alternatives within the HoR for the government formation, he said, but the letter and spirit of the Constitution have been ruthlessly battered now. “This is a huge blow against the House, sovereign parliament and arduous struggle and devotion of the Nepali people.”

He went on saying that, “The House has not been dissolved, it is still alive. The government has gone against the spirit of the Constitution and aspiration of the people. The ongoing struggle would not cease until the reinstatement of the House”.

Expressing his confidence that the Supreme Court would respect the letter and spirit of the Constitution, NCP Chairman Prachanda said he would not even imagine that the apex would not understand the essence of the Constitution.

He also urged the judiciary not to comprehend the people’s demonstration against the HoR dissolution as a pressure for parliamentary reinstatement.

The people would grant apology if the mistakes are timely corrected, he said warning that they would create a whirlpool of the protest until the revival of the House.

Accusing Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli of sowing the seed for party division, former Prime Minister Prachanda said Oli was never eager to attend the party meetings. He also claimed that they have the support of over 70 percent central members even as per the details submitted to the Election Commission while merging the two parties for unity.

Chairman Prachanda further claimed that they would get authenticity of the party and sun as an election symbol from the Election Commission.
On the occasion, NCP central struggle coordination committee coordinator and party spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha also asserted that their protest would not stop until and unless the dissolved parliament was reinstated.
