The District Administration Office (DAO), Jhapa has decided to impose strict prohibitory orders in the district from Saturday in view of the alarming spike in new COVID-19 cases.
Jhapa Chief District Officer (CDO) Shrawan Kumar Timsina said that the meeting of the District COVID-19 Crisis Management Committee (DCCMC) and the municipalities had decided to implement a strict prohibitory order effective from July 31 to August 7.
CDO Timsina said that the DCCMC had decided to strictly enforce the prohibitory orders in a uniform manner to break the chain of infection in the district.
Issuing a notice, Jhapa DAO informed that shops selling essential items such as grocery stores, fruit and vegetable shops will be allowed to open from 6:00 am to 8:00 am.
Other shops including restaurants, malls and swimming pools will remain closed.
The examination of Grade XI will, however, won’t be affected by this decision.
As per the recent figure, 1,123 persons have been diagnosed positive for the virus in the district in the past four days, with 10 fatalities during the same period.
As of late, new COVID-19 cases have spiked at an alarming rate in Nepal. Since the detection of the new Delta variant, the Ministry of Health and Population has directed all local levels to be prepared for the possible third wave.
