KAHS Preparing To Launch Masters In Nursing


Karnali Academy of Health Sciences (KAHS) has been developing courses in various disciplines in the field of medicine. The academy has recently started a postgraduate nursing course in Jumla.

With the target to develop medical education in Western Nepal, more than a dozen medical professors, associate professors and heads of various departments of the Karnali Foundation are working in Jumla to develop the postgraduate course. Lately, they are planning for the nursing course to introduce this in the postgraduate level.

Dr. Niresh Thapa, the rector of the foundation, said after the introduction of nursing courses at the postgraduate level the foundation will take another milestone.

Thapa informed that the academy had already developed various courses in MBBS, B Pharma, BNS, BMS, BPH, MDMS, MSc Epidemiology, Bachelor of Nutrition and now it is making postgraduate level nursing courses.

He said that the curriculum developed in Jumla is expected to be applicable and standardized in the medical field in western Nepal. He emphasized that the curriculum in Jumla could focus on the same geography.

Dr. Saraswati Gautam, assistant professor of nursing at the institute, said that the study would be conducted to emphasize on the well-being of the patients and the safety of the patients.

Speaking at a two-day curriculum development workshop at Jumla, the dean of Nursing Gautam said, “We will finalize the high-level nursing course in a few days. It will also be documented in the cornerstone of the foundation.”
