Landslide wreaks havoc in Sindhupalchowk District, several homes swept away

At least 13 homes have been buried in a landslide at Lidi Village in Jugal Rural Municipality – 2, Sindhupalchowk District. The landslide occured in the early hours of Friday morning.

15 people out of the members of 13 households damaged by the landslides have been able to come out of the disaster site while members of at least five households are reported missing, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in the District Police Office, Madhav Kafle.  

Rescue efforts are affected as the disaster site lies in a remote place, and it is difficult to reach there on time. However,  two females and two males seriously injured in the Lidi landslide have been brought to Kathmandu via helicopter rescue.

Chief District Officer Umesh Kumar Dhakal informed the public that a squad of the Nepal Army and the Nepal Police has been mobilized in the landslide-hit area. 

Meanwhile, a team led by Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota has arrived at the landslide affected area via a helicopter. Nepal Communist Party ( NCP) central member Madhav Sapkota, Chautara Sangachokgadhi municipality mayor Aman Singh Tamang, CPN leader Saral Sahayatri, District Coordination Committee chair Hom Narayan Shrestha, and vice chair Sirjana Tamang are in the team, said Speaker’s media expert Shreedhar Neupane.
