Lawmaker Promod Shah arrested for vandalizing Janakpur Airport

A Member of Parliament has been taken in custody today for his alleged involvement in vandalizing Janakpur Airport.

Lawmaker Pramod Kumar Shah of Rastriya Janata Party, was arrested from Tribhuvan International Airport for vandalizing the airport counter on Monday, said Airport Incharge Deputy Inspector General Surya Upadhaya.

Acting on an arrest-warrant issued by Dhanusa District Court, police have detained the lawmaker.

In videos that went viral in social media, lawmaker Shah is seen aggressive over the flight delay and gets into scuffle with a staff from Buddha airlines. He said in the video that the flight delay had caused him to miss a meeting. He has been accused of vandalizing the airport counter and mistreating airport staffers.

Civil Aviation Authority Office, Janakpur filed a case against Shah at District police office. They have also claimed that the lawmaker’s notorious behavior hampered its routine work.

Lamaker Pramod Kumar Shah was elected from constituency no 1 of Sarlahi district.
