Local Bodies In Valley To Manage Free Food For Poor


Chief District Officer (CDO) of Kathmandu Kali Prasad Parajuli Wednesday said that the government has managed free food and drinking water facility for the poor and needy citizens residing in the Kathmandu Valley throughout the restriction period.
Many poor and needy citizens residing in the Valley have been facing a problem to manage daily meals due to the restriction order and to address the concern, the government in coordination with Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC), has planned to manage food for them,” CDO Parajuli said.
He said the restriction order enforced in the Valley has now come into full force. CDO Parajuli, who reached Thankot-Nagdhunga check point to observe the situation of the restriction order on Wednesday, said the prohibition order was coming into implementation fully.
He also said that there was no need to worry that the citizens would not be able to manage their daily food in the Valley during the restriction order. He said that arrangements have been made to provide relief to those who have problems.
“We have also made arrangements to provide relief to such people through the ward offices in coordination with the KMC in case of any difficulty. No one should starve to death. We also make arrangements to provide pulses and rice in some places,” he said.
He also said that the problem can also be solved by contacting the concerned ward and municipality or by dialling on 103 of Nepal Police.
CDO Parajuli said that the government will also make arrangements for sales and distribution through the Food Corporation and Salt Trading Company.
