A joint team of the District Police Office, Morang and Narcotics Control Bureau, Biratnagar has arrested a 42-year-old man with methamphetamine, also known in the streets as ice, from Bargachi Chowk of Biratnagar.

Meth is considered an expensive and dangerous narcotic drug in the world.

Ram Prasad Pokhrel, a resident of Sundaraharaincha Municipality-8, Morang was arrested on Tuesday evening with 222 grams of methamphetamine from Bargachi Chowk.

Police later seized another 530 grams ice from Pokhrel’s possession which they found that he had hidden in his house.

According to police, this is the first case of world’s one of the most expensive drugs being seized in Morang.

Spokesperson of the State Police Office, Biratnagar, SP Deepak Pokharel, said that the drug was seized for the first time in Province-1. “The drug has been seized a couple of times in Kathmandu but this is the first time in the eastern region,” he said.

Pokhrel was arrested on the basis of a tip off and police suspect he may have started drug trafficking by forming a network. Investigation into the case is still underway.
